What can still turn the screen off
- Switching tabs, minimising the browser or locking the device releases the wake lock. The session resumes when this page is visible again.
- Low battery, battery saver and power-saving settings can release or block the wake lock.
- It does not override a manual lock, a sleep shortcut, a closed laptop lid, or a screensaver or lock policy enforced by your organisation or operating system.
- It keeps the display on. It does not keep the computer running tasks in the background.
- The visual is optional. Playing it does not replace the wake lock, and video decoding and a lit screen still use power.
